Discipline > Motivation: Why I Work Out Even When I Don’t Want To

9 August 2025

Here’s the truth: I don’t always feel like going to the gym. But I go anyway.

That’s not motivation — that’s discipline.

Every day, I block out my lunch hour for a workout. Not because it’s convenient, but because it’s non-negotiable. Just like getting to court on time or prepping a case the night before a trial, the structure you build in your life bleeds into every other area.

If you procrastinate on your physical health, it’s easier to procrastinate elsewhere. But when you do the hard thing — especially when you don’t want to — that’s where strength is built.
